Deutsche Bank AG, Germany’s biggest
bank, is advising on sales of greenhouse-gas allowances assigned
under the 1997 Kyoto Protocol from eastern European nations to
Japan, Nikkei English News said, without citing anyone.
The bank, which advises European Union governments, wants to help sell the allowances, known as Assigned Amount Units, to businesses in the Asian nation from countries including Poland, Estonia and Lithuania, the report said.
Projects in developing nations that generate other United Nations-overseen credits, known as Certified Emission Reductions, are sometimes less productive than expected, helping boost demand for spare AAUs from Japanese firms, it said.
